Level 1 course begins Tuesday Evening 13 May.

Also calling all advanced-level woodworkers!

Summer workshop: Make your own antique - make a Louis XV armoire. See below.

The major project of the Summer 08 advanced-level owrkshop will be this magnificant 18th century Louis XV armoire in pine with traditional milk paint finish.
Students must have advanced-level skills in fine woodworking with their own workshops (ie. table saw, drill press, band saw, jointer/planer if working with rough-milled stock, carving chisels, assortment of clamps and router table).

During this summer workshop, students will be taken through every technical step of this challenging project. This will include post and rail construction of the case, 5 board gables, all aspects of wood carving, raised panel doors with mouldings and sticking (using the router table), adjustable shelving, milk painting and antiquing, and fitting of traditional hardware.

Planning and technical guidance will be covered in each session of the workshop. Students will then execute each stage of building in their own workshops. Instructors will be available to provide trouble-shooting tips and technical advice whenever required.
