Merlin Wood is a traditional fine woodworking school. Amongst woodworking schools, we are the unplugged version. The School is located in a delightfully rural setting beside a charming old growth pine forest, close to Hudson village with its many amenities. As one would expect within the workshop there are woodworking benches for all students. The Merlin Wood philosophy requires that every student must have his or her own fully-equipped work bench. Instructor to student ratio never exceeds one to six; so everyone gets personal attention of the highest order. There is also a complete line of stationary machine and portable power tools for students to use once they have been introduced to the tool. Most importantly, Merlin Wood school courses emphasize the pursuit of excellence, return to fundamental principles and the development of high-level hand tools skills. Training is geared to students returning to their own workshops with the requisite hand skills and technical knowledge to work wood successfully, rather than relying blindly on technology and robotic woodworking methodologies.
